Satirical Advertisement Card. Artist's depiction of a NAVY sailor who appears to be enjoying himself much. This appears to be a drinking establishment's way of luring in sailors on shore leave. Cryptic text includes, "Come in, The Water's Fine - Guests Who Prefer Ginger Pop--Wink". A book on American slang printed in 1890 reveals that ginger pop refers to ginger beer. I presume that the '06 Arsenal is probably an address. The card is in EX condition with a small, light crease on top right corner and some mounting residue on the back. There is an Arsenal Street in Boston which could indicate the origin of the card. This may be a souvenir of Prohibition. ; B&W Drawing; Small 8vo 7½" - 8" tall; 1 pages
