The higes have been repaired and strengthened. The original covers are sunned along the edges, There are a few traces from the library, and the bottom inch of the title page has been torn away. The interior pages have expected age-toning. The book is square and quite attractive. ; Erratta page in back. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 357 pages; This book deals primarily with the history of Mecklenburg (Charlotte) and the surrounding counties -- Cabarrus, Rowan, Iredell, Lincoln, Gaston Cleaveland, Burke and Wilkes. Much information about the Colonial era and the Revolution. This copy has a signed (Julia S. Smith) and dated (1877) inscription to Montford McGehee, a North Carolina farmer and lawyer who served in North Carolina General Assembly, and was the second North Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture.
