Basically, this magazine is in pieces. It had been folded twice and the horizontal fold has completely separated. The vertical fold is about 50% intact There are chips on the edges, the cheap paper is toned. ; Vol. 1 #13; B&W Illustrations; Folio 13" - 23" tall; 8 pages; Society was published in Atlanta for just a couple of years in the early 1890's, as far as I can tell. The magazine was operated by women at a time when few society women worked. The University of Georgia Library has 10 copies, though some are duplicates. This issue is notable for the obituary of Joel Chandler Harris' mother. Handled with great care the magazine is fun to read. It gives a fascinating view of Atlanta society, at least as it saw itself! Also of interest are many ads for local businesses.
