If you were a newlywed in 1975, this was just the book for you. Want to know how dry umbrellas and your mother (gasp!) didn't teah you, turn to Mrs. Beecher. How about cleaning kid gloves? Just about any chore that the housewife of 1875 needed help with, the book addresses. Lots of recipes are included, if some are a little less that precise. It is actually a compilation of articles from The Christain Union. Mrs. Beecher was Harriet Beecher Stowe's sister-in-law. First publsihed in 1873, this is a later printing. I find books like this fascinating, if only because I'm grateful not to live like this! The book is VG-. with some wear to the boards, staining on the back and light interior toing and a little foxing. The book has a slight musty odor from storage. ; Small 8vo 7½" - 8" tall; 492 pages
