Book has only light, general wear. About near fine. This is a reprint of the very scarce original of this book on African-American citizens in Chattanooga, Tennessee, written in 1904. The book,a reprint, is valuable for the information on African-Americans in Chattanooga at the turn of the 20th century, but it is also of some interest because of the Introduction by an unidentified person with the initials W. E. L. This Introduction lays out a strong, antiracist ( in the sense of that word as used by Irram X. Kendi) line of thought arguing that the black citizens of Chattanooga are in all ways equal to the whites. I am interested in the history of this book and in the author of the Introduction. ; B&W Illustrations; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 98 pages
