Stapled beige wraps with a good bit of soiling and aging. Some edge and corner wear with atear at spine bottom. Most importantly the last two pages of the musical score have been torn out. The score ends on page 56. The two following pages are missing and at least one of them had musical notation. ( A small bit of tpage 57 remains.) This copy seems to have been used for performance -- there are some pencil notations -- so the pages may have been removed by the person directing the performance. At any rate, inexpensive reprints of this work are readily available so that the missing pages can be replaced. This first edition of a work based on the Cherokee legend of Nacoochee and Sautee is quite rare. WorldCat lists 20 copies, but most of these seem to be downloadable scores and not copies of the published work. Only four copies are for certain this published score. The legend of Nacoochee is associated with an Indian mound near Helen Georgia and deals with young lovers leaping to their deaths from nearby Mt. Yonah. A program from a performce of this cantata at Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia in 1921 is laid in. Kate Fort Codington, author of the lyrics for this work was a graduate of Piedmont in 1901. ; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 56 pages
