Stepin Fetchit Autographed Collage Photograph

By: (Stepin Fetchit)

Price: $100.00

Quantity: 1 available

This is an 8 X 10, B&W collage photograph of popular African-American actor Stepin Fetchit. It is signed by the actor with an inscription, "To Thad," in a light area near the top right corner. The photo is in about VG+ with slight aging and wear along the margins. The photo itself seems to have had a sepia tone. Stepin Fetchit, real name Lincoln Perry, was known for his stereotypical roles in the 1930's and 40's. He was later invovled, to an extent, in the Civil Rights movement and was a friend of Mohammed Ali. He was a pioneer black actor in white cinema even though he was assigned essentially demeaning roles. Like other black actors from the period, he is often overlooked today. ; B&W Photographs; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 1 pages; Signed by Author
