It was Humboldt's favorite work and, in many ways, his most influential. Written in German and published in Germany, this is, I think, the first edition. Until recently, Humboldt has not been widely known in America, but a newbiography and new translations have brought wider recognition. Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote of Humboldt, “He is one of those wonders of the world who appear from time to time, as if to show us the possibilities of the human mind.” Ansichten der Natur is an important work by a true Renaissance Man. ; 2 Volumes; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 362, 407 pages
