4to 11" - 13" tall; 212 pages; These days people don't seem to worry too much about penmanship. After all, our computers produce any font we can dream of and as long as we can sign our names, we're good to go. Actually electronic signaturs make even that unnecessary . But in 1743, the world's comunication system and econly depended on legible penmanship and various styles were published and studied. George Bickham was an engraver, who as early as 1712 wrote copy books and business texts, then collected examples from 25 London writing masters in this massive volume, The Universal Penman. The book popularized the English Round Hand script, widely used in commerce. This is a limited facsimile edition, #443 of 1000, with an introduction by Philip Hofer. It is in VG+ conditon, with minor edge wear and very lightly tanned pages, a very nice copy. This large heavy volume may require additional postage.
