Slipcase (there was no dust wrapper) is worn on the edges which are lifting slightly at the front (where the book goes in) and the spine is somewhat faded or sunned. Book is about near fine except for addition of two inserts. There is a typed paged tipped to the inside back cover with acidic glue. The sheet tells much about the book and was probably added by a former owner. This sheet is coming loose -- which is probably a good thing. VG+ to NF. Special copy of this well-know South Carolina volume. ; B&W Illustrations; tall 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 82 pages; This is # 313 of a limited edition of 500. There is a tipped-in, single-fold pamphlet on the ffep with a photo of the author and signed twice by her-- once as Susan M. Heygood and then as Mrs. George A. Heywood with her address. Inside this pamphlet author gives information about Redcliffe, the setting for the book. It was the home of James Henry Hammond, twice Governor of SC, known for his "Cotton is King" speech in 1858. This appears to be a unique copy of this volume because of the tipped in sheet and pamphlet along with the signatures. ; Signed by Author
