Green cloth boards have bumped corners, scuffing on the edges light fraying at the head and foot of the spine. There is a circular water stain that is faintly visible on the cover and some light stains on the corners and outer edges of some of the pages. The interior is lightly toned and there is a darker offset on the last two pages. She was a writer, lecturer, and reformer with special interest in agricultural and women’s issues; she served as secretary to her husband while he was a Member of Congress 1875-1881; she was appointed by the Governor as a Democrat to the United States Senate on October 3, 1922, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Thomas E. Watson; took the oath of office on November 21, 1922, and then served just twenty-four hours, from November 21 to 22, 1922, as a successor had already ben elected. Country Life in Georgia was written when Mrs. Felton was 82 years old.
