Pictorial covers with toning on foredges and on some interior pages, especially endpapers. The name "WHEATON" is lettered on the front foredge. The book is square and securely bound but shows light, general wear from use. ; Color Photographs; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 646 pages; This was Steve Wheaton's working copy of Georgia horticulturalist Armitage's compendium on perennials. Wheaton was the horticulturalist who did the restoration plantings around 1990 for Barnsley Gardens, the antebellum estate near Adairsville, Georgia. Besides Wheaton's name on the foredge, there is an inscription to him on the title page signed by Armitage. Armitage congratulates Wheaton for his work at Barnsley and expresses appreciation for his being allowed to be part of the process. Great, and historically important, association between Wheaton, Barnsley Gardens and the noted Georgia botanist, Allan Armitage. ; Signed by Author
