Welcome to the home of The Ridge Books, located in Calhoun, Georgia and owned by Lee and Bob Linn. Please search or browse our inventory of hard to find, out of print, used, and rare books. We specialize in Georgia and Southern writers and topics, as well as Native American and African - American related items.  Recently we have been collecting books that might be termed "American Edge" or "Outlaw", beginning with the Beats in the 1950's and continuing through the 60's and 70's.  We are always adding new books, so check back frequently for new listings. Use our Offline Search feature to check for books that we might not have listed yet, or can locate for you.

We have just returned from the Tennessee Antiquarian Booksellers Association Fair in Cowan, Tennessee.  Cowan is a delightful small town down the mountain from Monteagle, with good restaurants, a train museum, and Tom McGee's bookshop, the Book Brake.  Tom and his crew did a great job of running the fair, and the volunteer could not have been more helpful.  Next year's fair will be July 16-17, 2011.  It's worth the trip.

After unloading the van from the Tennessee, we turned right around and starting packing for the Asheville (NC) Antiques Fair August 6-8 at the Civic Center in Asheville.  We'll be featuring North Carolina and other Southern books and paper, decorative bindings, including some books as early as the 17th century and wildflower prints from 1894.

Occasionally Bob will discuss a topic or an author. The books he chooses will be featured below, and there is a link to the page under Navigation at the left. The current page is about books from The American Edge.  Previous pages will be available at the bottom of the Navigation window by title, such as the Kennedy Assassination, Leo Frank and Folk Art.
