Beige wraps with black lettering and photograph of church and cemetery. Wraps have an old tape repair on spine, part of which is missing and part of which is split. The top half of this repair, however, is still together and the binding is thus secure. Edge and corner wear and an old vertical crease through the middle, now quite flattened. Former owner's name in ink at top of front. See scan; this actually looks, and is, a good bit better than it sounds. Interior has light aging with an occasional underlining or note. G to G+ condition with noted provisos concerning repair. ; B&W Photographs; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 41 pages; Old and scarce South Carolina booklet with a full history of this church which was founded in 1770. Many photographs of former pastors.

It is the second of the John Divine Jones Fund Series of the New York Historical Society. The journal was hand written from memory by Miss Wells in 1779, and was reproduced from a verbatim copy from the original by Mr. W. G. Aikman , great-grandson of the author. This seems to be the first published edition. It is a very attractive copy.

The book has very light, general wear. The dustjacket has some edge and corner wear and is missing about 2 inches at the top of the spine along with a small hole near the bottom, though none on the front or back. Square and securely bound. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 116 pages; This is a collection of African-American stories retold by a white man from the Congaree Swamp in South Carolina. While much of this book is in dialect, Adams tried to present his subjects with dignity. The Introduction is by Paul Green, the Pulitzer Prize winning North Carolina playwright, who wrote works sympathetic to the situation of Southern African-Americans. Blockson 5044.

The brochures have copyright and/or reprint dates between 1938 and 1953.

Light edgewear and toning. Staples are rusted but secure. Some of the pictures are attached slightly askew. ; B & W photos; Oblong 24mo 5" - 6" tall; 12 pages; This is an interesting little booklet. The cover title looks professionally printed, but the interior has an introduction and pictures of gates in Charleston that look like they were cut out and pasted in at the top of each. Each gate has been labeled but a separate label strip has been pasted to the bottom of two of the pictures. The booklet has a handmade quality to it. There is no author, no publisher, no date. WorldCat shows four copies that seem to be this same book. Brown University gives an estimated date of 1926.

This is a very attractive 19th century rebinding preserved in two custom made wooden clamshell boxes bound in attractive leather. The original map is present though detached. It has some wear but is complete. This is an early and difficult South Carolina set to find. Howes C 178. ; Vol. 2 VOL; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 533, 576 pages; The subtitle tells what this is. It is a compenduium of information about South Carolina compiled by Carroll in 1836. These are basic South Carolina books.
