Gateways of Charleston S. C., Anonymous
1 Anonymous Gateways of Charleston S. C.
Unknown Unknown N.D. Softcover Very Good with no dust jacket
Light edgewear and toning. Staples are rusted but secure. Some of the pictures are attached slightly askew. ; B & W photos; Oblong 24mo 5" - 6" tall; 12 pages; This is an interesting little booklet. The cover title looks professionally printed, but the interior has an introduction and pictures of gates in Charleston that look like they were cut out and pasted in at the top of each. Each gate has been labeled but a separate label strip has been pasted to the bottom of two of the pictures. The booklet has a handmade quality to it. There is no author, no publisher, no date. WorldCat shows four copies that seem to be this same book. Brown University gives an estimated date of 1926.

The Liberty Bell: Independence Hall, Philadelphia, Keyser, Charles S.
3 Keyser, Charles S. The Liberty Bell: Independence Hall, Philadelphia
Philadelphia Dunlap Printing Company 1902 Softcover Good
Stapled gray wraps with black titles and illustration of Liberty Bell. Edge, corner and surface wear with some tears and chips. Wraps are attached (they may have been glued at some poinr) but very fragile. Could easily detach if mishandled. Aside from wraps, the booklet is secure. ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 33 pages; This booklet seems to have been written for the Liberty Bell display in Philadelphia. This particular printing , however, was done for the South Carolina Inter-State and West indian Exposition held in Charleston in 1901-02. The Liberty bell was part of this Exposition and a grand journey was made from Philadelphia to Charleston. The Mayor of Philadelphia and many cty officials accompanied the Bell on the trip. The first few pages of the booklet commemorate this trip. The main part of the booklet, by Keyser, is the history of the Bell with many photos. Interesting souvenir of a little-known Expo.
