The Philosophy of Mystery, Dendy, Walker Cooper
4 Dendy, Walker Cooper The Philosophy of Mystery
New York Harper & Brothers 1845 First Edition; First Printing Hardcover Very Good
Deep brown cloth with somewhat faded gilt titles and decoration. Some edge, corner and surface wear. Top right corner of title page torn away, affecting no text. Still square and securely bound. This book seems to be a 19th skeptical work on paranormal beliefs such as spectres, ghosts, demons, etc. I say "seems" because the book is written as a dialogue among mythical beings, but the chapter headings indicate that Dendy has applied scientific thought to these pseudoscientific beliefs. Interesting book. ; 12mo 7" - 7" tall; 442 pages
