5 Brooklyn Institute The Twelfth Year Book of the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences, ... 1899-1900
Brooklyn The Institute 1900 First Edition; First Printing Hardcover Good+ with no dust jacket
Dull red cloth with black titles. Old diagonal crease on front that is flattened and firm, maybe a publishing blemish. Some edge, corner and surface wear with a sunned spine. Interior pages are quite attractive, though advertisements which precede and succeed the text are on an acidic paper that is somewhat browned. Despite problems this is a square, secuely bound and solid copy. ; B&W Illustrations; 12mo 7" - 7" tall; 476 +ads pages; Annual review book of this well-known Brooklyn Institute with lists of members, plus articles, programs, essays and photographs. Of some interest is the name of Henry Chadwick, circled in pencil on page 46. Chadwick was a sportswriter and is a member of the Basebal Hall of Fame. This book came in a lot that possibly derived from the library of Chadwick -- many of the books have stickers and stamps with his name. Chadwick lived in Brooklyn and was a member of the Institute. I make no claims for the authenticity of this book's being from Chadwick's library and have not priced it with any consideration for that possibility. (I know that there has been some fakery invovled with Chadwick because of the scarcity of his autograph. ) However, as an oddball baseball item, this book has a certain appeal.

Some Sources of Southernisms, Mathews, M. M.
13 Mathews, M. M. Some Sources of Southernisms
University University of Alabama Press 1948 First Edition; First Printing Hardcover Very Good- in Very Good- dust jacket
This is a former library book with all the marks and paraphernalia that goes with that classification. If you can ignore all of the library stuff the book and jacket are in rather nice shape with only light wear and aging. However, the ex-library material keeps this from being a collectible book. It is, however, an excellent reading or research copy of a readable, scholarly book on a very interesting subject. ; Ex-Library; Small 8vo 7" - 8" tall; 154 pages

Beige, pictorial covers with brown backstrip. Much of brown paper making up the backstrip has flaked off on the back near the spine.
