Book is square and securely bound. A VG copy of Vol. 3 only. The publication date of 1861 is for the first volume of this three volume set which was issued together. This volume could not have been printed before 1865. The set is a near contemporaneous account of the Civil War. This is an excellent copy of Vol. 3. Stapled, light tan self wraps with black titles. Remarkably nice condition with some light edge, corner and surface wear with some light stains here and there. Square and securely bound. ; B&W Illustrations; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 44 pages; Song book printed for G. A. R. Chapters in Xenia, Troy, Miamisburg, Franklin, Germantown and Dayton Ohio areas. The songs are called "Some Rations from "The Haver Sack". "The Haver Sack" was a patriotic magazine fro vets of the Union Army. The booklet is filled with songs (words only) , pictures of Union Generals and ads. The ads give a vivid picture of the Xenia and Dayton areas early in the 20th century. There are also rosters of G. A. R. Chapers throughout this area. I think these booklets were probably job printed in different areas of the country for different reasons. I have not found another printing from this section of Ohio.
