This book has certainly been used . The boards are worn, especially at the corners and head of spine, and the ads on them are scuffed and soiled. It looks as though the boards and spine have been restitched, though carefully. MOst of spine Tias chipped away. The last page of the book is torn in half. Much wear on Hthe covers (see scan. ) The book is fair, though it is square with a very nice interior. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 384 pages; After publishing the revised edition of the definitive shape note songbook, Southern Harmony, in 1854 Walker turned his attention to the rest of the singing country. The result in 1866 was this book, which uses the seven-syllable character note method. This copy is the revised edition of 1873. As with many if not most of these old song books. , this one was used until it was falling apart. For that reason only a few exist and most of them are like this one.
