Solid copy. ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 285 pages; This volume is listed as New and Enlarged with thirteen sketches added which, I think, makes this a First Thus of Thompson's well known dialect humor book first published in 1840. There seems to have been a long period between the early publications of this book and this revision. This is the early Southwest Humor that was part of the inspiration for Mark Twain. DeRenne II 535 , Georgiana 33 , Wright 1 2589, Harwell - 108. All of these reference works list earlier editions of Major Jones' Courtship.
