Rust cloth with gilt titles and decoration in black frame. Some sunning and spotting on cover (see scan. ) Book is square and binding is secure. Book was cheaply printed but there are no tears or parting of binding. Light edge and corner wear. Nice copy of a book often found with serious condition issues. G+ to VG-; B&W Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 405 pages; This is a mid-19th century marriage manual. Many blurbs by celebrities of the day such as Elizabeth Cady Stanton and William Lloyd Garrison. Cowan beieves that true love and happiness in marriage can be guaranteed by the application of phrenological principles. However, there are chapters on subjects like masturbation and impotence; he tries to be thorough. This appears to be a First Edition since 1869 is on front and back of title page and no other editions or printings are listed.
