Gray boards with black decoration of prisoner. Square with secure binding. Some discorloration on back of ffep , possibly from the process of tipping in the Special Edition page. Jacket has some chips and light aging. ; B&W Movie Stills on endpapers; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 257 pages; This is a special movie tie-in edition of this book, apparently printed before the movie was released. It has a tipped in page which reads Souvenir Edition, The Steel Pier, Atlantic City, New Jersey. This page is signed at the bottom "Cordially Yours, Robert E. Burns." I do not know the history of this special edition, but copies of this book signed and with a dustjacket are quite scarce. The book is the true story of Burns who was imprisoned in Georgia for a minor crime. He then went through escape , reimprisonment and another escape. He was a fugitive and a cause celebre' when this book was written. Famous movie starring Paul Muni was based on this book. This edition has photos from the movie on the endpapers.
