Paper pasted to cardboard, but not very securely. Light edge wear. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 140 pages; This copy is signed on the half title page by Charters to Robert Hawley who ran the Oyez Press for many years and published some of Charters' work. This book seems to have been a long term project for Charters and Hawley. The proof copies were printed for Robert Hawley and friends. The inscription says this is the first copy. Charters is most famous for his writing on music, especially blues and early jazz, but he is also a prolific poet, novelist, essayist and translator of Swedish. This book is a lyrical account of a year in the countryside of near New London, New Hampshire. Part poetry, part prose. ; Signed by Author

Book has only light edge and corner wear but there is age-toning or sunning on the cover edges and, to a lesser extent, on the entire cover. Book is square and securely bound. Jacket has some edge and corner wear along with light scuffs at corners and spine ends. Quite presentable in Mylar cover.
