1 Slappey, Pansy Aiken A Man and His City: Brown Hayes and Atlanta
Atlanta Southern Publications Society 1961 First Edition; First Printing Softcover Very Good-
Stapled, pictorial wraps with image of Hayes over photo of downtown ATL. Light edge and corner wear. Front wrap is pulled from top staple but not loose; back wrap and interior pages are all firmly attached. There is staining on top foredge and on interior endpapers. Looks like an old dampstain but such a stain is not detectable on the wraps. See scan of title page. Overall book is square and secure, with note about top staple. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 78 pages; Brown Hayes was a long-time civic leader and businessman in Atlanta. This biography seems to come from interviews that the wonderfully named Ms. Slappey had with Hayes. I have not been able to determine if the historic Brown Hayes (or Brown-Hayes) Building on Edgewood Avenue has anything to do with this gentleman or not. The book is signed by Slappey, without inscription, on the title page.
